In a conversation at a recent industry conference, Ionic Rare Earths’ CEO, Philip Pascall, explained the rationale behind the project. He posited that not only would the technology provide secure sources of REEs outside of China, but also reduce the need to mine new minerals, thus helping to protect the environment. “Our recycling technology is designed to provide a reliable and sustainable supply of REEs for industry, while at the same time preserving natural resources,” said Pascall. According to the CEO, the technology is also being used to facilitate collaboration between countries. For example, Ionic has recently partnered with Morocco to explore the possibility of building a rare earths recycling facility in the country. The move signals the company’s commitment to helping create a secure supply chain for REEs outside of China. And by providing a clean, energy-efficient technology, Ionic Rare Earths could be a major player in this new reality.
