“Time to Take Action: CVS Health to Remove Decongestants with Phenylephrine!

CVS Health recently announced that it would be removing decongestants containing phenylephrine off its shelves. Phenylephrine is a drug commonly found in nasal decongestants, but there is increasing evidence that its use can potentially lead to an increased risk of arrhythmia, heart trouble, and other side effects. The decision to pull these products from shelves was made after a review of the scientific literature revealed that people may be at an increased risk for developing cardiac arrhythmias if they use products which contain phenylephrine. This review was conducted in light of new research which has surfaced, as well as an abundance of anecdotal evidence from past patients who have experienced side effects which included dangerous cardiovascular episodes.
